In a development which may enthuse some more than others, I have at last (November 2016) written an extension which: (1) overcomes a software limitation which previously meant that all citations contained round brackets (square brackets are used in citations if the year is needed to identify the case or article, which is true for all neutral citation numbers); and (2) checks BAILII each time a neutral citation number appears on MHLO and automatically adds a BAILII link if the judgment is available there (links appear in blue text: the automatic external links have dotted underlining, normal external links have solid underlining, and internal links to other MHLO pages are not underlined). You can see an example of the extension at work on the [[R (Lee-Hirons) v SSJ (2016) UKSC 46, (2016) MHLO 38]] page.
** Add an internal link (see below) to your proposed page.

Please email '''jonathan''' at '''mentalhealthlaw.co.uk''' (replace 'at' with the @ symbol).
Place two square brackets at each side of the page name, e.g. '''<nowiki>[[Mental health caselaw]]</nowiki>''' becomes [[Mental health caselaw]]
</div>

The sections can be linked to using either '''<nowiki>[[MHA 1983 s1]]</nowiki>''' ([[MHA 1983 s1]]) or the shorter '''<nowiki>[[s1]]</nowiki>''' ([[s1]]).

The easy way:

* Just type in the full website address, e.g. '''<nowiki>http://www.bailii.org.uk</nowiki>''' becomes http://www.bailii.org.uk

The hard way:

* Enclose the website address within single square brackets.
* After the website address, leave a space and type the website name.

e.g. '''<nowiki>[http://www.bailii.org.uk The Bailii website]</nowiki>''' becomes [http://www.bailii.org.uk The Bailii website]

== Adding section headings (like this one) ==

Enclose the section heading with '''<nowiki>==</nowiki>''' on either side, e.g. '''<nowiki>== Section heading ==</nowiki>'''.

Use '''<nowiki>===</nowiki>''' for sub-headings.

About the website

The internet resource on mental health law, and mental capacity law, for England & Wales. You can sign up for free email updates, the online forum and the CPD scheme (which provides 12 hours for £75 and is suitable for lawyers and non-lawyers). You can advertise your job vacancies and events here, or browse the bookshop. The main content of this website has been divided into Case law (2461), Legislation (388) and Resources (1,108), together with separate Information pages (334) to link everything together.

The abbreviations are similar but MHLO, MHLA and MHLR are all different.
