We’re Mind, the mental health charity. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and reduce stigma..

This is a new post aimed at 0-4 years PQE or equivalent experience for solicitor , barrister or other qualified lawyers. In this post you will be at the centre of litigation and other challenges that will improve the lives of people living with mental health problems.

The successful post holder will:

  • Work on cutting edge cases that will change the lives of our beneficiaries
  • Training and supervision of Mind Legal Line staff and analysing data for potential evidence
  • Be involved in producing our award winning written information for the public and professionals..
  • External legal writing
  • Advising mind internally
  • Working with external stakeholders in the mental health sector on joint projects or persuading those in power of the need for change

The team operates across a number of legal areas, including the Mental Health Act (both over and under 18’s), mental capacity, social care, discrimination on grounds of mental health, education and welfare benefits and public law relating to those areas.

You will have a good working knowledge (or ability to demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge) of at least two areas of law that the legal team cover. You’ll have excellent written and communication skills, keeping abreast of current laws and the legal environment, coupled with knowledge and understanding of current mental health policy issues.
