Solicitor - Court of Protection (Health and Welfare)
Listed in the 2021 edition of the Legal 500 for our Court of Protection Health and Welfare work, a number of our solicitors are members of the Law Society’s Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation Scheme.
We enjoy enduring and productive working relationships with our experienced solicitors who are based across the country. We are keen to hear from anyone with the relevant experience looking to undertake health and welfare work wishing to work flexibly and with greater autonomy under the consultancy model.
In addition, we have an in house team of specialist solicitors based in our South East London office and we are also seeking to recruit a Court of Protection solicitor either on a permanent basis or a fixed term contract to work alongside our great in house team.
Successful candidates will be part of a progressive and friendly team undertaking complex and strategic court applications under s.16 and s.21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 representing both P and family members and will be able to demonstrate that they are able to act compassionately and diligently in achieving the best interests of vulnerable clients.
Candidates applying for the in house position will ideally meet LAA supervisory requirements in the category of community care or mental health law.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing a challenging case-load with full conduct of clients’ matters from inception to completion;
- Achieving own billing targets;
- Maintaining continuing competency to ensure that you are up to date with changes in relevant law and practice;
