About The Role:

We are looking for a Solicitor with experience in health and welfare proceedings in the Court of Protection, including applications under s16 Mental Capacity Act 2005 and s21A appeals to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

The team predominantly works on behalf of vulnerable adults lacking mental capacity via a litigation friend, or their family members, in health and welfare proceedings in the Court of Protection.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor within our Court of Protection & Community Care Team. The Team has a strong reputation in this area of work in the Northwest.

The role will be predominantly dealing with health and welfare cases in the Court of Protection, managing a caseload of welfare matters, including applications pursuant to s16 and s21A Mental Capacity Act 2005.

There will be the opportunity to deal with Judicial Review Proceedings and community care cases. The cases will often involve Human Rights elements and highly sensitive matters of wider public interest.

You:

You will need to be a Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate, with experience in applications under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Legal aid community care supervisor standard and Law Society Accreditation in Mental Capacity (“ALR”) are not essential but would be desirable.

Our Court of Protection and Community Care team is well-recognised in this area of work and have relationships with key referrers of work and other parties.

The team are rapidly expanding, there is a strong focus on the development and progression of our existing employees with a clear structure in place for career development.
