Campbell Law Solicitors, Newport Pagnell - Mental Health Tribunal caseworker

Mental Health Tribunal caseworker sought

Campbell Law Solicitors is a well-established and well regarded niche firm located in pleasant offices in the busy market town of Newport Pagnell near Milton Keynes.

We specialise in mental health, mental capacity and community care law and specifically we advise, assist and represent clients for:

  • Mental Health Tribunals (and associated mental health law work);
  • Court of Protection matters (financial, welfare and health-related); and
  • NHS Continuing Healthcare appeals.

Our work is funded privately and via Legal Aid. We have contracts in mental health and community care with the LAA.

We are looking to recruit a caseworker with experience of Mental Health Tribunal work.

Ideally this person will already be an accredited panel member who can represent clients at Mental Health Tribunal hearings immediately.

We will also consider good applicants who are not yet accredited but who have relevant experience and a commitment to this area of work.

Applications can be from qualified or non-qualified persons. Experience, intelligence, personal qualities and a commitment to best representing detained patients is of more importance than a qualification as a lawyer.

Other relevant experience will also be taken into account but this post is specifically advertised to replace a departing accredited colleague who is leaving to undertake the bar training course.

Given the geographical reach of our work an essential requirement is a current valid (preferably clean) driving licence, access to a car for work purposes and a willingness to travel to the various hospitals and courts that we cover.

Applicants who wish to consider taking up a training contract with this firm are invited to apply. We have successfully taken on trainee solicitors in the past who have worked full-time with us whilst completing a part-time LPC.

The closing date for applications is 31st January 2016. [Now extended to 15 February 2016.]

Ideally the successful candidate will able to start work as close to 1st March 2016 as possible.

Salary will be dependant upon experience. 24 days annual holiday is given alongside bank holidays and paid leave between Christmas and new year.
